Vision – You’ll Find It In The Most Unusual Places

Art and Science

I generally write about Vision as it relates to Vision Boards – one of my favorite topics. However, tonight I have been doing some preparatory reading for a course I’ll be teaching later this summer. I started a  Google adventure seeking information about people who are in a creative field who are also inventors. The people I came across were recognized early in their careers for their acting abilities, but their inventions show that they are as scientific and visionary as they are creative.

I have had a wonderful time researching Hollywood actors who are also inventors. I’ve long known about Hedy Lamarr, credited with an invention developed to create secret codes being broken during WWII. She is also dubbed the Godmother of the Cell Phone: http://telebusillis.blogspot.com/2006/04/godmother-of-spread-spectrum-hedy.html.

Next up – Another Hollywood heart-throb – Kevin Costner. In 2010, during the BP Oil Spill Cleanup, Kevin Costner arrived on the scene: http://gawker.com/5563110/everything-you-need-to-know-about-kevin-costners-miraculous-oil+cleaning-machine.

And as an added bonus, take a little mystery trip to the a  YouTube link about Charlie Chaplin that may be mystery, may be vision or may be bunk: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6a4T2tJaSU.

The question I leave you with today is… what are your most fantastic ideas and vision for your career and your life? It looks as if you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to be an inventor and visionary genius… anyone can do it – even an actor.
